Though the Oscars are over, the stars are still out, at least in the New York gallery scene. At any time in the city, there are a plethora of exhibits dedicated to high-profile artists, but this spring dealers seem to be leaning closer than usual to known quantities—big names sure to command crowds and epic price tags. If you go on a gallery crawl today, Glenn Ligon, Anish Kapoor, Hans Haacke, Louise Lawler, Francesco Clemente, James Rosenquist, Robert Gober, Jasper Johns and Isa Genzken are just a few names you can encounter. Call it a sure thing in uncertain times.
