They found six relatively healthy eating patterns were associated with a lower chance of participants self-reporting symptoms ofcognitive decline. But one in particular showed the biggest effect: the DASH diet, which stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. In the study, the people who followed the DASH diet most closely had a 41 percent lower risk of experiencing cognitive decline than people who didn’t follow the diet very closely.
