Polymarket opened a pop-up betting bar in D.C. It was a bit odd.

It was Friday, the first night of the bar’s three-day run, and many of the screens were not working. Assembled guests had to wait outside, in the rain. At one point, Neal Kumar, Polymarket’s chief legal officer, emerged to take questions from reporters about the companyand responded withstatements like: “If it’s illegal under a congressional act, it’s illegal on our platform,” and “I’m not going to comment on any one specific matter,” and “We cooperate with the authorities.”
