For a home that’s more than two centuries old, the 2,000-square-foot dwelling needed some work, but nowhere near a gut renovation. The back wall of the large foyer through which guests enter was replaced, and the floor and ceiling of a room to the left of the foyer — a comfortable lounge with a vintage bar cart and board games — were redone. An adjacent media room has a television that Grinspan partially obscured by draping the wall it’s mounted on in navy fabric left over from upholstering a bed frame that’s now upstairs in a guest room next to the primary suite. He also built a back kitchen where once there was only a portable sink and stove, crafting counter space from a salvaged carpenter’s table that still retains hundreds of woodworking nicks.
